Women frequently do not realize how wearing high heels can negatively affect their foot health. The most common health problem is bunions (see our FAQ's for definition and treatment options). Other toe complications can also occur from muscle imbalances due to wearing high heels, especially when wearing stilettos.
The frequent wearing of high heels can often cause ankle and leg problems as well. The ankles, calf muscles, and Achilles tendon can often develop problems since the muscles have to work harder to remain stable, or at least try to, while you walk. If you wear heels often and experience frequent foot, ankle, and leg pain, you may want to develop a daily stretching routine to help relieve the soreness. If the pain persists, do not hesitate to contact us or fill out an appointment request to schedule a full assessment.
